My research on the Santa Clara River in Ventura County, CA, examines the effect of Arundo donax invasion on vertebrate community structure. Particularly, I'm looking at the response of California songbirds and bats to alterations in habitat characteristics. Research in the Colorado River Basin is similarly focused on avian associations with native vs. non-native vegetation, particularly the use of Tamarix spp. by neotropical migrants and how riparian restoration can enhance habitat quality for wildlife, particularly the southwestern willow flycatcher.
